A man drowned at Albert Dyck Park in Abbotsford just before 5 p.m. on Monday (Aug. 12).

According to a news release from the Abbotsford Police Department,  officers were informed a man entered the water and did not surface.  In addition to APD, the Abbotsford Fire Department, BCEHS, and Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue also responded to the incident.

"Unfortunately, despite the efforts of first responders, the man could not be located," APD said.

APD remains on the scene as of Tuesday morning (Aug. 13) to await the assistance of the RCMP dive team to recover the body.  Police said the incident was not suspicious.

Victim services were deployed to the scene on Monday and will support those impacted in the coming days.  The park is currently closed to the public.

APD says further information won't be released at this time out of respect to the man's family.
