The body of a 34-year-old man who drowned Monday (Aug. 12) at Albert Dyck Park in Abbotsford has been recovered.

The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) said the RCMP dive team recovered the body at about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Police reported on Monday that first responders were called at about 5 p.m. Monday after the man entered the water and did not surface. He could not initially be located, and the dive team was called in.

Const. Jody Thomas, a media officer with the APD, said the man was from out of country and was currently living in the Lower Mainland, but not Abbotsford.

"There is nothing suspicious about his death and it is just a sad accident," she said.

Thomas said the man was at the lake with his girlfriend's son at the time.

No further details have been provided.
