Merrick Matteazzi will run as the BC United candidate for the Abbotsford-Mission riding in the upcoming provincial election.
The local realtor will join current NDP MLA Pam Alexis and Conservative candidate Reann Gasper on the ballot.
“I cannot stand by and watch the promise of beautiful British Columbia erode. The B.C. that I want my children to grow up in is worth fighting for, and I am excited to get to work in creating the bold change our community deserves,” Matteazzi said in a news release.
Matteazzi grew up in Abbotsford and graduated from W.J. Mouat in 2005. Per a BC United news release, he built meaningful connections through school, sports, and business.
Matteazzi won numerous awards in the RV industry before transitioning to real estate and attending UBC Sauder School of Business.
He joined the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board and was named ‘Rookie of the Year’.
BC United leader Kevin Falcon says Matteazzi embodies the values and dedication needed to bring positive change in the riding. Falcon says Matteazzi is committed to health care, cost-of-living and public safety issues.
“We are thrilled to have him on our team and confident in his ability to represent the best interests of his constituents,” Falcon said.
Matteazzi has been married for over a decade and has three children.
