Abbotsford's Sevenoaks Shopping Centre turns 50 this year and has kicked off a year of celebration with a new logo to mark the ocassion.
The mall worked with Langley's Jelly Marketing for the design, which is a nod to the logos of the past blended with today's look.
"Through all the changes over the decades we are so proud that Sevenoaks has remained a constant place dedicated to serving our community," Sevenoaks officials stated in a press release. "That is what this logo represents. Pulling from our well known "valley" logo used in the 90's, our anniversary logo depicts a horizon of possibilities as we look to the future while honouring our rich past."
Sevenoaks officially opened on Oct. 15, 1975 at 10 a.m. Shoppers Drug Mart was one of the original tenants and remains in business at the mall 50 years later.
"We love that every person has a memory at Sevenoaks whether it’s the water clock, working your first job at one of our retailers, the iconic reindeer benches, or remembering shopping here as a child and now bringing your own family to Sevenoaks," the release stated. "We would like to use this anniversary as a time to celebrate our history, and proudly celebrate that Sevenoaks' future is as strong as its past."
The mall has several events planned to celebrate the golden anniversary, with more details expected to be released in the near future. They are also asking Abbotsford resident to share their memories and photos about time at the mall. Some of those chosen will be featured during the year.
