Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service crews were “extremely busy” Tuesday morning as high winds battered the city.

A rainfall and wind warning were in effect for the region, as an intense cold front moved across the Lower Mainland. Winds were expected to reach as high as 90 km/h.

Assistant chief Craig Leighton said his department received 17 calls before noon, including homes struck by trees, downed wires and an electrical fire on Dawson Road.

Leighton said there were no injuries directly related to the wind reported.
