What started off as quite a normal day off, turned into a day to remember for Abbotsford man Brian Andrus when he discovered that he was in possession of a winning lottery ticket worth $675,000.
“It was my day off and I was running errands, and redeeming some tickets from the holidays,” Andrus said. “I found out I won while sitting in my car and had to check the back to make sure I read the rules properly."
He double-checked the ticket at a nearby gas station's ticket validation machine and was assured that he had just won a major Set for Life prize.
Upon getting confirmation, Andrus immediately called his wife and told her the incredible news.
“I called her, and she didn’t believe me at first so she asked me to send her a photo. She was so shocked but was so happy once her shock wore off."
Andrus called the win a blessing and said that he plans to treat his family to a trip to Disneyland as a celebration.
"My son and daughter have been wanting to go for years, and this win will allow me to surprise them with this trip," he said.
The lucky ticket was bought at the Walmart on Vedder Way in Abbotsford, and is part of the B.C. scratch-and-win tickets bought in 2024 that have awarded more than $13 million in prizes.
