A 61 year-old man is in police custody after a shooting took place in Yale two weeks ago.

Early in the morning on Aug. 1, Hope RCMP and BC Ambulance Service were on scene after a man was shot on Yurkin Road. The man was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a fully recovery for his serious injuries.

RCMP identified a suspect and, four days after the shooting, took the 61 year-old into custody. He is currently facing numerous charges such as Aggravated Assault and weapon offences.

“The coordinated efforts and hard work of the Hope RCMP members have ensured that the perpetrator of this violent act remains in custody and have helped keep the residents of the Yale community safe,” said Staff Sgt. Mike Sargent.
