A total of 18 candidates have been finalized for the five Abbotsford ridings for the provincial election on Oct. 19.

The list of candidates running in the provincial election on Oct. 19 has been finalized, and there are a total of 18 in the five ridings that include Abbotsford.

These are the people running (click on their names to read more about them):

ABBOTSFORD WEST

Korky Neufeld – Conservatives

Graeme Hutchison – NDP

James Davison – independent

ABBOTSFORD SOUTH

• incumbent Bruce Banman – Conservatives

Sarah Kooner – NDP

Amandeep Singh – independent

ABBOTSFORD-MISSION

• incumbent Pam Alexis – NDP

Reann Gasper – Conservatives

LANGLEY-ABBOTSFORD

Harman Bhangu – Conservatives

John Aldag – NDP

Melissa Snazell – Greens

Alex Joehl – Libertarians

CHILLIWACK NORTH

All-candidates meetings are scheduled on:

• Wednesday, Oct. 2 for Langley-Abbotsford at 6 p.m. at Aldergrove Heritage Hall

• Thursday, Oct. 3 for Abbotsford-Mission at 6:30 p.m. at the Clarke Theatre in Mission

• Wednesday, Oct. 9 for Abbotsford South at 4:30 p.m. at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium in Abbotsford

• Wednesday, Oct. 9 for Abbotsford West at 7 p.m. at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium

• Thursday, Oct. 9 for Chilliwack North at 7:45 p.m. at Chilliwack Cultural Centre (the Chilliwack-Cultus Lake candidates go first at 6 p.m.)

Elections BC reports 323 candidates are running in the 2024 provincial general election, with 269 representing seven political parties and 54 candidates running as independent or unaffiliated (those who have not been endorsed by a party or registered as independent).

The NDP and Conservatives are running full slates of 93, while there are 69 Greens.

Election day is Oct. 19. Advance voting takes place Oct. 10-13, 15 and 16.
