A total of 11 candidates have now been confirmed for Abbotsford’s two federal election ridings.
Nominations closed on Monday (April 7), and the list of confirmed candidates was posted Wednesday (April 9) on the Elections Canada website.
The federal election takes place Monday, April 28.
Candidates confirmed for the riding of Abbotsford-South Langley are:
• Sukhman Gill for the Conservatives;
• Mike de Jong as an independent;
• Kevin Gillies for the Liberals;
• Dharmasena Yakandawela for the NDP;
• Melissa Snazell for the Greens; and
• Aeriol Alderking for the People’s Party of Canada (PPC).
Candidates confirmed for the riding of Mission-Matqui-Abbotsford are:
• incumbent Brad Vis for the Conservatives;
• Jules Côté for the NDP;
• Jeff Howe for the Liberals;
• John Kidder for the Greens; and
• Kevin Sinclair for the PPC.
Advance polling takes place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21.
Voters are asked to check their voter information card to find their advance polling station or use the Voter Information Service at elections.ca.
The boundaries and names of the two local ridings have been changed since the last federal election.
The Voter Information Service also enables voters to find in which electoral district they are located by typing in their postal code.
