Concert violinist Calvin Dyck and soprano Alison Nystrom are featured in concert on Sunday, Sept. 29 in Abbotsford.
The performance starts at 6:30 p.m. at Northview Community Church.
Dyck is in his 25th season as concertmaster for the Vancouver Island Symphony in Nanaimo, and is in demand as an adjudicator for music festivals across the country.
He is also the artistic director for Oceanside Classical Concerts, the artistic director of the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra, and a busy producer with his company Songs, Strings and Steps.
Dyck was recently award the Order of Abbotsford in recognition of his work with youth.
Nystrom is a sought-after performer, teacher and adjudicator and is noted for her expressive singing.
Her opera credits include Pamina in The Magic Flute, Diana in Orpheus in the Underworld, Clorinda in La Cenerentola, and the Woodpecker and Innkeeper’s wife in The Cunning Little Vixen.
She currently teaches voice at Trinity Western University. She has a passion to see young people discover their voices and use them in a healthy way.
Dyck and Nystrom will be accompanied by pianist Carmen Fast Hollett.
Other artists include guitarist and vocalist Steve Otterbein and the Nicolenco Trio.
