The Stanley Cup, the holy grail for NHL hockey players, is coming to Abbotsford as part of the Heroes Hockey Challenge on April 7.

The Stanley Cup will be available for viewing and for photo shots by donation.

The hockey game features Hockey Legends and the Heroes Hockey Challenge Warriors. The legends will play against some of the best Western Canadian military hockey players.

“Many of our military heroes grew up playing hockey all across Canada with some playing at major junior hockey levels,” said Captain Dan Spielman (PPCLI), Team Captain of HHC Warriors.

Former NHL hockey greats who have played with the Hockey Legends include Dave Babych, Gino Odjick, Dave “Tiger” Williams, Larry Melnyk, Cliff Ronning and others.

“We’re expecting an exciting hockey game with these warriors,” said former Vancouver Canuck player Dave Babych.

The game is designed to be an affordable and fun outing for families with a chance to see hockey legends in action. The game will also feature a ceremony to honour fallen soldiers, as well as entertainment, a military band and displays, hockey souvenirs and memorabilia, and a chance to collect autographs.

The event takes place April 7 at 3 p.m. at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre.
