The monthly Snag in the Valley live-art event and raffle takes place in Abbotsford starting in May at Open Space.

An event that involves artists completing a piece in 3.5 hours and then having it raffled at the end of the night takes place monthly in Abbotsford starting on May 15.

Snag in the Valley takes place the third Thursday of every month from 5 to 9 p.m at Open Space (33765 Essendene Ave.) in the historic downtown core. The series runs until September.

Artists are invited to create pieces in any size, medium and style.

While the artists create, guests are invited to try their hand at life drawing with @travis_sketches (all materials provided) and enjoy beverages in
partnership with the Atangard Community Project.

Snag was founded in Vancouver in 2012 with the mission of making underground art accessible. The weekly event escorted hundreds of artists and their work into the public sphere, creating connections and collections for more than 10 years.

In 2023, artist and event producer Ember Muninn brought Snag to Abbotsford to celebrate the emerging and established artistic talent from across the Valley.

The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. each month.

Tickets aret $15 and include one free raffle ticket. They are available at eventbrite.ca (search "The Return of Snag in the Valley").
