Robert Malcolm Memorial IV pipe band to perform at diabetes walk

The group, including four local musicians, will perform at the Walk for the Cure on June 9 at the Abbotsford Exhibition Park.

The Robert Malcolm Memorial IV pipe band (a feeder band) for the Simon Fraser University’s six-time world champion pipe band) will be performing at the Telus Walk for the Cure in Abbotsford on Sunday, June 9.

Several years ago the organization took on supporting the Telus Walk for the Cure as one of its young players had been diagnosed with Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes.

The band is thrilled this year to have the location moved to Abbotsford as four members of the band are local residents.

RMM IV is an all youth band between the ages of 10 to 17.  Kieran Bako (piper), Alistar Bevan (piper), Luke Snow (piper) and Julia Snow (side drummer) are all from Abbotsford and will be performing with the group.

The 25-members of the band are from the Greater Vancouver area with players also coming from as far away as Hawaii and Whidby Island.

The Telus Walk for the Cure will be held in Abbotsford on June 9, at the Abbotsford Exhibition Park. Registration is at 11:30 a.m. and the walk will get underway at 2 p.m.
