A collection of Sandra McMartin's photo art will be featured at the Kariton Art Gallery from April 4-29.

Memories of Minter memorializes the beauty of Minter Gardens, located at the foot of Mt. Cheam in Rosedale, just north of Agassiz. Since opening its gates in May 1980, the gardens had been a popular destination for gardening enthusiasts of all ages. Due to declining tourism and a changing climate, the 32-acre show garden closed Oct. 14, 2013.

McMartin's work captures moments of beauty and diversity at this former landmark destination in the Fraser Valley. She has only been using the camera as a means of personal expression for the past few years. Her work has won awards in the Canadian Association of Photogenic Art (CAPA) print competition, the Lions Gate Celebration of Nature and the Northwest Council of Camera Clubs Audio Visual Competition.

The art gallery is located in Mill Lake Park at 2387 Ware St. Hours are Tuesday to Friday, noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday to Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

An opening reception takes place April 6 from 1 to 4 p.m., and non-perishable food donations for the Abbotsford Food Bank will be accepted throughout the exhibition. For more information call 604-852-9358, send an email to abbotsfordartscouncil@gmail.com or visit abbotsfordartscouncil.org.
