Oktoberfest celebrated at annual food show

The show features more than 100 exhibitors in the food and beverage industry, many offering products from the Fraser Valley

The sixth annual Fraser Valley Food Show will celebrate Oktoberfest with the Second Great Canadian Sausage Making Competition, the 11th annual Master Chef Competition, and at least nine breweries and beer distributors participating in the popular Wine, Beer & Spirits Tasting Pavilion.

It all takes place Oct. 4-6 in Abbotsford.

The show features more than 100 exhibitors in the food and beverage industry, many offering products from the Fraser Valley, as well as celebrity chef demonstrations, competitions, menu sampling, and tasting seminars.

New features this year include:

n Sausage competition sampling for the first 500 visitors on Oct. 5 at 11:30 a.m. which includes a glass of Erdinger Gluten-Free Beer for adults aged 19 and older (four tasting tickets or $2 each).

n The Gluten-Free Living Show, featuring gluten-free product lines from small- and large-scale producers and manufacturers.

The show is open on Oct. 4 from 2-9 p.m., Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It takes place at Tradex (1190 Cornell St.) at the Abbotsford Airport.
