Nominations now open for 2018 Arty Awards

Nominations are now open for the 14th annual Arty Awards.

The awards, presented by the Abbotsford Arts Council recognize and honour the contributions of local artists and arts advocates.

Entries can be submitted by those in the arts community, a friend or by the artist or group themselves. The deadline is Aug. 27.

Changes put in place for the 2017 Arty Awards will be retained for this year’s event.

These include categories that had been redesigned to include a wider representation and more fully reflect the current arts community as a whole.

Awards will be presented in the categories of: performing arts, lifestyle, media arts, youth achievement, literary arts, arts advocate, visual arts and emerging artist as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award.

In addition, Harry Doupe, a writer and producer with more than two decades of awards show experience, will return as Arty Awards coordinator.

The Reach Gallery Museum once again partners with the arts council as host venue.

The Arty Awards take place Saturday, Sept. 29.
