In her Maps of Weather exhibition, artist Willa Downing shows a recent body of mixed media artworks that combine mapping, scientific phenomena and artistic imagination.
Rational, grid-like structures are contrasted with the much more organic shapes used to describe natural phenomena.
Downing, who has a PhD in biochemistry and a diploma in painting, combines her passion for both art and science in this exhibition, which runs from Feb. 5 to March 1 at The Reach.
There will be an opportunity to meet Downing in person on Feb. 17 at 10:30 a.m. in Abbotsford as part of The Reach’s Culture, Coffee and Cookies program.
