Mars 31 takes to the stage in week seven of the fall segment of the Envision Coffee House Concert Series.

The duo perform on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 8 to 10 p.m. at Wired Monk McCallum (1975 McCallum Rd.).

Mars 31 is a blend of rock-folk, featuring strong vocal qualities.

It consists of Katie McCulloch, who holds a bachelor of fine arts in acting from UBC, and Detlev Hamann, who has completed up to Grade 9 at the Royal Conservatory in piano.

McCulloch performed St. Matthew's Passion at Carnegie Hall in New York City at the age of 12.

Hamann got his start in writing songs for his two daughters in an attempt to stop them from crying when mom went to work.

The pair met through work and, after 12 years, started jamming together.
