Internationally known opera comedienne Natalie Choquette joins the Central Valley Academy of Music (CVAM) for their Valentine’s Day benefit concert, Love is in the Air.

Choquette will perform arias from La Traviata, Norma, Madame Butterfly, Cavalleria Rusticana and Barber of Séville, along with songs from the Broadway hits Les Misérables, West Side Story, and Porgy and Bess.

“She’s such a delightful entertainer and makes opera fun and interactive,” said show producer Calvin Dyck, who is also the director of Songs Strings & Steps.

“She creates skits or drama on stage that tie into the music she is doing and makes it come alive.”

Love is in the Air also features performances by West Vancouver’s Pacific Spirit Choir, the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra, and faculty and students from CVAM.

The choir and orchestra will showcase familiar music by Johann Strauss, Giuseppe Verdi, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and a lively arrangement of Lord of the Dance.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. on Feb.13 at the Abbey Arts Centre, 2329 Crescent Way.

Tickets are $25, including refresh-ments. There will be a silent auction to raise money for CVAM scholarships. Tickets can be purchased at CVAM, the House of James and Kings Music. Call 604-853-5996 for more information.
