The Harrison Festival Society has booked some old-school folk talent from the Emerald Isle itself.
The Festival Society announced the virtual “arrival” of Kíla, an Irish folk octet on its virtual tour of the United States and Canada. Their concert takes place on Saturday, September 26, at 7:30 p.m.
Harrison Hot Springs was originally to play host to Kíla for the Harrison Festival of the Arts. Since the pandemic shifted much of the Festival Society’s events to the virtual world, Kíla followed suit. Harrison Hot Springs marks one of two “stops” in Canada during this one-day virtual tour. Harrison is the second on a list of 10 events throughout the United States and Canada; they will perform for Saskatchewan music lovers via the Regina Music Festival as well.
The concert is free of charge, but concert goers must be registered at Kila.live/Harrison. Donations are accepted with a $10 suggestion.
Kíla was formed in 1988 with roots in traditional Irish music. Their folk music sound continues to evolve as they draw influence from cultures all over the world. Kíla has played in more than 35 countries throughout the world, playing such notable festivals as the Edmonton Folk Festival, Festival de Ortigueira in Spain and the Electric Picnic in Ireland.
