Dirty Dancing musical comes to Abbotsford Centre

Production hits the stage on Thursday, May 3

The smash stage production of Dirty Dancing makes a stop in Abbotsford on Thursday, May 3 as part of its 50-city North American tour.

The show comes to Abbotsford Centre at 8 p.m.

The show – based on the smash-hit film celebrating its 30th anniversary – has had three successful years on tour with numerous sold-out engagements.

The show is set in 1963, when 17-year-old “Baby” and her family take a vacation to New York’s Catskill Mountains.

Baby shows little interest in the resort activities, and instead discovers her own entertainment when she stumbles upon the staff quarters, where an all-night dance party is in full swing.

Mesmerized by the raunchy dance moves and the pounding rhythms, Baby can’t wait to be part of the scene, especially when she catches sight of Johnny Castle, the resort dance instructor.

Baby’s life is about to change forever as she is thrown in at the deep end and as Johnny’s leading lady both on stage and off.

The production features new direction by Sarna Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George – Broadway, and War Horse – North American tour).

Leading a company of 24 are Aaron Patrick Craven as Johnny Castle and Kaleigh Courts as Francis “Baby” Houseman.

“Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story On Stage” features an eight-piece band that performs the timeless hits on stage, led by conductor Jonathan Marro (keyboard).

The production’s book is written by Eleanor Bergstein, author of the original script of the film.

Tickets start at $39.50 and are available at, the Abbotsford Centre box office, or charge by phone at 1-855-985-5000.
