Dining in the Dark fundraises for CNIB

Unique dining event is coming to Abbotsford for one night only.

Imagine not being able to see, and having a whole meal in pitch darkness with nothing but the other senses as guides. That’s the idea behind Dining in the Dark.

The event is coming for one night only to Abbotsford and proceeds go to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), an organization which supports people who are blind or partially sighted.

“Challenge your palate and pick out the mysteries of the menu as your senses will be heightened when you dine in the dark. Enjoy a three-course gourmet meal like never before,” notes organizer Urban Xperience on its website.

Diners will wear blindfolds and navigate their meal with help from the servers. The three-course meal will be a complete mystery. The menu is set with no options. However, vegetarians can be accommodated if requested the night before.

The event is March 29 at Abbotsford’s Sandman Hotel and Suites. Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m., with all guests requested to show up by 6:30 p.m. Blindfolds go on at 7 p.m. Tickets are $65, cocktails not included.

Deadline to purchase tickets is March 28. Full details are at urbanxevents.com.
