A children’s Christmas book by a local author features a long-time Abbotsford business.
Finding Christmas by Carrie Wachsmann tells of a country mouse travelling to the big city to find the real meaning of Christmas.
The local mice have found Karl’s Meat Market to be a wonderful source of cheeses. They sneak in regularly and savour the various cheese ends.
In the book, Karl tells his wife Wendy that they “may just have a mouse problem.”
Karl’s Meats, founded by Karl and his wife Wendy in 1966, is located at 2621 West Railway St., just north of Essendene Avenue in historic downtown Abbotsford.
Finding Christmas is the story of Marko, a handsome and brave country mouse who embarks on a wild winter adventure to find Christmas. His dangerous, heart-pumping journey takes him to the city of Abbyville, where “they” say, he is sure to find Christmas.
There Marko meets a vivacious, brown-eyed city mouse named Bella.
He quickly discovers Bella loves adventure every bit as much as he does. After serving cookies and hot milk, Bella takes him into the heart of the busy city, where she says, “You will learn everything you need to know about Christmas.”
The two delightful little mice soon discover Christmas is nothing like either of them expected.
Wachsmann has a master’s of ministry (professional writing) and a doctorate of ministry (fine arts). She has done all the illustrations in the book.
Finding Christmas is available on Amazon and other online vendors, and is also available in an audiobook and video.
