Christian writers' conference hosted in Abbotsford

Grace Fox is the keynote speaker at the Write West Coast writers' conference in Abbotsford on May 7.

The Word Guild hosts a conference on Saturday, May 7 called Write West Coast for emerging and seasoned writers who are Christian.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Cascade Community Church, 35190 DeLair Rd. in Abbotsford.

Keynote speaker Grace Fox is an author and international speaker who is known for her quick wit, personal experiences and biblical insights.

Fox has written several books, including 10-Minute Time Outs for You and Your Kids. Her articles have been published in Reader's Digest and several other magazines. Aspiring Woman magazine recently named Fox as one of Canada’s top 10 female Christian entrepreneurs.

Worship at the conference will be led by Carola Meerkerk, a songwriter, singer, creative writer, speaker and bible teacher.

She has been nominated for the Canadian Covenant Music Awards in 2011 and in 2013 in the category of Jazz and Blues Song of the Year.

Conference attendees will have opportunity to participate in three of six workshops including: Scene and Sequel led by Gail Sattler; Motivation, Marketing, and Money led by Wendy Dewar Hughes; Writing for the Web led by Bill Strom; and Fiction Flaws led by Elma Schemenauer.

Participants can also sign up in advance for a manuscript critique for an additional charge.
