Abbotsford Children’s Theatre (ACT) presents its production of Aladdin by William Glennon from April 24 to 26 at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (32315 South Fraser Way).

Aladdin is based on a story from The Arabian Nights, taking place in an ancient village in the Middle East.

An adventurous young man named Aladdin lives with his widowed mother and his devoted pet monkey, Toodle-de-Toos. Aladdin is a poor boy whose life is good but he still craves a new one – the life of a wealthy man and marrying a princess.

One day, a stranger called Zorah comes to Aladdin’s village looking for Aladdin and a lamp that Aladdin’s family owns. He convinces Aladdin to go to the cave where he left the lamp years before. At the cave, the true nature of the man is revealed.

The lead characters are: Chad Dyck and Evan Rachwalski (Aladdin), Kobe Lightfoot and Owen Leonard (Zorah), Eala Sheridan and Mhairi McKay (Aladdin’s mother), Islay McKenchnie and Erin Kehler (Darkana), and Sierra Carmichael and Taya Viger (Toodle-de-Toos).

School shows are on April 24 and 25 at 9:30 a.m. and noon. Public shows are Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m. Tickets are available at The Reach Gallery Museum, Tourism Abbotsford, Jazz-Ma-Tazz and online at abbotsfordchildrenstheatre.org.
