Cascadia Wind Ensemble hosts 10th anniversary concert in Abbotsford

Cascadia Wind Ensemble holds a special concert on Sunday, May 28 in Abbotsford in celebration of its 10th anniversary.

The show starts at 3 p.m. at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium, 32315 South Fraser Way.

The ensemble will present some of their favourite music of the last 10 years, including the classic Holst’s First Suite for Military Band, the lyrical Irish Tune from County Derry, a medley of favourites from The Beatles, Silverado from the old west and thrilling music of Spain El Camino Real.

The pieces will be played by an ensemble of current members supplemented by returning previous members.

Each selection will be accompanied by visual images.

A celebration cake will be shared at intermission.

The Cascadia Wind Ensemble was formed as a non-profit society in 2013 by Shannon Goldsmith to give adult and youth musicians an opportunity for performance of great concert band repertoire.

Cascadia has presented formal concerts in Abbotsford and has performed in community events in Chilliwack, Mission, Hope, Abbotsford and Delta.

The ensemble was awarded a gold standing and trophy for Outstanding Community Band at the 2017 Kiwanis Fraser Valley International Music Festival.
