The authors of the recently released Abbotsford – A Diverse Tapestry will be on hand Saturday, Nov. 6 for a book launch at The Reach Gallery Museum.
The event runs from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and several of the authors will read from their work.
The chapters bring forward stories that have been omitted from previous local history publications and centre some of the many histories and biographies of the people that make up the diverse social and cultural tapestry of Abbotsford.

“The book was several years in development,” says Kris Foulds, curator of historical collections at The Reach and one of the book’s authors.
“Our goal to present marginalized histories has been made more relevant by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action to address structural racism against Indigenous Peoples, and the Black Lives Matter movement. We hope the stories presented contribute to personal learning and understanding that nurture empathy and unity.”
Copies of the book will be available for sale at the event, and at The Reach (32388 Veterans Way) for $35 by cash or cheque. Profits from the book will be donated to the Abbotsford Community Foundation, specifically for at-risk youth.
