Arts Council hosts demonstrations

The Abbotsford organization is holding the demos as part of its Christmas Artisan Gift Fair.

The Abbotsford Arts Council will host art demonstrations during the Christmas Artisan Gift Fair at Kariton Gallery.

They include straw ornament-making by Ursula Rettich on Dec. 16, from noon to 3:30 p.m.; and yarn spinning by Joanne Beukema on Dec. 18, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The public can follow the Abbotsford Arts Council on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates on art demonstrations during the fair.

The fair runs until Dec. 22 and features locally handcrafted artwork including pottery, woven and painted scarves, jewelry, and more.

Kariton Art Gallery is located in Mill Lake Park at 2387 Ware Street in Abbotsford. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday to Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Artist meet and greet receptions are held each Sunday of the fair, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Non-perishable food items are being collected on behalf of the Abbotsford Food Bank throughout the fair.
