Guests are also invited to bring their ice skates to test out the synthetic ice area near the illuminated tree.

Attendees will be able to browse the local shops, eateries and outdoor vendors, while reveling in the many sights, sounds and flavours of the season.

The official tree lighting takes place at 6 p.m. with Mayor Henry Braun and the Clauses. The tree has been a part of the downtown since 1947, growing to its massive size and marking the west entrance to this area.

The fireworks display is slated to begin at 8:30 p.m.

Free-parking lots are located within walking distance at Montrose and Pine Street, West Railway Street, the MCC Plaza on Gladys Avenue, and the old CIBC parking lot at McDougall and McCallum.
