Abbotsford musician explores shame and manipulation in new EP

Four-track EP, Alice, comes out on April 20

Only a few months after the release of his debut album, Singular Dust, Abbotsford musician Avery Lake is back again with a new EP which takes listeners on a deeply emotional journey.

The four-track EP titled "Alice" explores topics that many people will be able to relate to, including manipulation and shame, explained Lake.

"The question I wanted to explore was: what do we do with the shame we carry?" Lake said.

"It’s a deeply personal question, but also a societal one, something civilizations and nations have long grappled with. Through this EP, I wanted to offer a musical space where possible answers could emerge."

Each of the four songs dives into a different element of the journey toward emotional healing, with titular character Alice eventually achieving emotional liberation.

Listeners will be able to check out Alice on April 20, with the EP available on all major streaming platforms.
