Are you concerned about a family member’s driving abilities? For caregivers of a person with dementia, it’s a serious concern. Fortunately, Abbotsford families can turn to the non-profit Alzheimer Society of B.C. for assistance.

Four years ago, a small group of founding members of Abbotsford’s Run for Water had a modest goal of setting up a high-calibre 5k, 10k and half marathon run in support of clean water projects.

Partial proceeds from an upcoming event at the Best Western Plus Regency Inn and Conference Centre in Abbotsford will support programs of the Women’s Resource Society of the Fraser Valley.

The 26th annual Mt. Lehman Fall Fair takes place Saturday, Sept. 17, featuring everything from a pancake breakfast to a country-style dance.

Abbotsford’s annual Terry Fox Run takes place this Sunday, Sept. 18, at Ellwood Park, at 31419 Maclure Rd. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the run starts at 10 a.m. There will be 5 km and 10 km distances. Bicycles and dogs are welcome.

While donations are still being counted, the 2011 MCC Festival Auction and Relief Sale, combined with the Festival of Praise, has already raised more than $609,000.

The Mennonite Centre Committee (MCC) is shooting for $700,00 again at this weekend’s relief auction, which starts Friday at Tradex.
