The Zajac Ranch for Children took another digital leap forward this week, thanks to Telus.

The camp for kids with serious and chronic illnesses and disabilities is located on the remote shores of Stave Lake, and Telus donated approximately $150,000 worth of equipment and materials, and its employees donated a further $50,000 to the ranch, along with a new laptop to help surf the Web immediately.

“For many children who attend camp ... each summer it is their first overnight experience away from their family and it will be nice for them to be able to share their experiences via the Internet with their family during their stay,” said Mel Zajac, ranch founder.

This year the ranch is harnessing the power of social media so that donors will be able set up their own online Campfire and invite others to donate via Facebook, Twitter and e-mail. The Campfire Campaign will help provide summer and family camp experiences to more than 500 children this year, raising spirits of children and their families.
