Students from Colleen and Gordie Howe Middle School participated in the PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs trade show on Dec. 17.

Three Abbotsford schools recently took part in the PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs program, culminating in trade shows where they sold products made during the six-week program.

Chief Dan George Middle School, Colleen and Gordie Howe Middle School, and William A. Fraser Middle School joined 24 other classrooms in the Fraser Valley in launching the PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs program this year.

The six-week program was developed and designed for students in Grades 3 to 8 and helps them to develop an early understanding of money management, financial literacy and entrepreneurship.

Students take a business from concept to delivery, generating ideas, preparing business plans, creating products and designing marketing materials.

At the end of the program, they showcase their achievements at a PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs trade show, selling their products to students, family and community leaders.

The program is sponsored by Envision Financial.
