A group of Yale Secondary students hosted a turkey luncheon with all the trimmings last Saturday for residents from Hallmark Retirement Living.

This event, which will become a tradition, is one of many this year in which Yale students connect to their community and give back.

Last month, Grade 9 students spread some Christmas cheer to the seniors of Bevan Lodge, and volunteered to work Christmas kettles for the Salvation Army.

Also, Grade 11 and 12 students were found throughout Abbotsford fundraising in support of the Street Outreach Program run by Abbotsford Community Services. They raised $1,000 in cash and collected clothing and hygiene products for homeless youth.

Yale’s leadership classes are now working on a global project in which they will be raising money for Free the Children, to build a water sanitation program in Kenya.
