Yale Secondary leadership students are getting set to give Canuck Place a boost.
The fifth annual Live to Give event returns on Friday, running from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. at Yale Secondary.
Students attending the event have had to fundraise a minimum of $50 to get into the event, which is an overnight lock-in at the school.
Students move through theme rooms, such as glow-in-the-dark dodgeball, the man cave, the ladies room, jumbo games room, the food room, and more throughout the night. All proceeds for this event go to Canuck Place in Abbotsford.
This year also features appearances from Vancouver Canucks players Jake Virtanen and Ben Hutton.
Each year, the Grade 12 students in the program decide which charity or cause they wish to support. In the past, students have raised approximately $100,000 to build schools in Sierra Leone, provide water sanitation projects in Kenya, improve medical aid in India, and increase alternative income projects in Ecuador.
This year they decided to keep proceeds from the fundraiser local and donate to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, which provides palliative and respite care to youngsters and their families. The facility is located on Marshall Road next to Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
