Pat Christie won the Myrtle Evertt Woman of the Year award last year, and for good reason. At a luncheon on Thursday, the coordinator of the Employment Mentors’ Program at Abbotsford Community Services spoke to members of the local Business & Professional Women's Club (BPW) about the value of mentorship and of welcoming new immigrants into the Abbotsford community.
Christie, called a "woman of substance" by BPW president Maggie Reimer, arranged a line-up of three dynamic speakers with vastly different stories of how they settled in the city.
"My thoughts and prayers are with you because of the courage it takes to start anew," Christie told the speakers.
The event was held in celebration of International Women's Day, which was on March 8.
