Shirley Wilson is the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre's (FVCDC) new director of development.

Wilson will be working with staff and the board of directors for both the society and the foundation as they expand resources to further develop programs and services across the Fraser Valley.

FVCDC celebrates 30 years of service here this year, and will be enhancing existing programs and services that are community based, easy to access and responsive to the needs of children and their families.

Over the past decade, FVCDC has more than doubled the number of children served, from 1,000-plus, to now over 2,300 clients, and the staff has grown from 45 to 110 as a result of the need for services in the development of children. Services provided include direct intervention, therapy groups, and education and training programs.

Upcoming events include Mission Chamber Business After Hours at the Mission location (4-7337 Welton St.) April 12, and the annual Run, Walk ‘n’ Roll, June 23. Call 604-820-9536 for details.
