Highlights from Friday’s opening reception at Gur Sikh Temple

The community gathered at the historic Gur Sikh Temple in Abbotsford for the opening reception of the We Are Hockey exhibit on Friday.

The event featured a keynote address from the hosts of Hockey Night in Canada Punjabi Harnarayan Singh and Randip Janda. Vancouver Canucks mascot Fin also made a special appearance.

The exhibit features artifacts, memorabilia, photographs and stories that have great historical breadth reflecting the often conflicted laden Canadian responses to players of colour.

The exhibit, which is free, is expected to run for a year.
