The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) is seeking nominations for the Betty Urquhart Community Service Award.

The award recognizes an individual or a group who has made the Fraser Valley a better place to live and people who make everyday contributions to their community but who may not be recognized.

Betty Urquhart was one of the first employees of the university and believed strongly in volunteering and giving back to the community.

She passed away in 1995, but UFV keeps her memory alive by honouring a person or group exemplifying her commitment to life-long learning and community.

Some past recipients of the award have included the Crystal Gala Foundation, Kosum Soni of Mission for her work with vulnerable communities, Veronica Back of Mission for her outreach activity, and Dr. Elizabeth Watt for her work with the Abbotsford Youth Health Centre.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 11. Nomination forms are available online at ufv.ca/board/betty-urquhart-award/ or by calling Lori Ann Waites at 1-888-504-7441 (local 2614) or emailing loriann.waites@ufv.ca.
