Two locals earn Envision scholarships

Tanner Friesen and Tristan Warmenhoven among 13 recipients of education awards

Two Abbotsford residents are among 13 recipients of education awards recently presented by Envision Financial.

Tanner Friesen and Tristan Warmenhoven each received a $2,000 scholarship, recognizing students who have demonstrated outstanding scholastic ability combined with exceptional volunteer service.

Friesen, a graduate of Robert Bateman Secondary, was the captain of the school’s football team and president of the grad council.

He also volunteered as part of the Link Crew leadership program to support students transitioning into high school.

Friesen is pursuing a bachelor of commerce degree at the University of B.C.

Warmenhoven, a graduate of Yale Secondary, volunteers as a camp counsellor with TREK, an outreach camp to provide wilderness experiences to kids.

He also volunteered as part of a service trip to El Tizate, Guatemala, to help at a church and school.

Warmenhoven is attending the University of the Fraser Valley to pursue a criminology degree.
