Tourism Abbotsford is building a dream team of ambassadors who are excited to share the city this summer.

The ambassadors will make up the visitor servicing team, and hiring is just getting underway. Having ambassadors is nothing new to the tourism organization, but this year there will be even more excitement than usual, said Barb Roberts, destination and industry development manager at Tourism Abbotsford.

“This year we’re just going to be louder and prouder and really wear that ‘Abbytude’ hat,” she said.

That means more pop-up locations around town and at events where they’ll be offering up information to the public. That means helping visitors find their way and even helping residents learn a little more about the city they live in.

There are plenty of new tourism partners, Roberts said, and long-standing businesses and events that people may not be familiar with. The ambassadors are people who are passionate about creating positivity and awareness about all of the city’s unique spots, whether that’s right downtown or on a rambling country road.

The role also means getting information into the hands of residents who carry on that message that Abbotsford is a great place to spend time.

“We just want to promote all the wonderful things you can do here,” Roberts said. “Tourism is a platform to share our Abbotsford story. There is so much happening here.”

She lists off wineries, craft breweries, farm activities, events at the Tradex and other venues, the tulip festival, and countless places to hike, bike and shop.
