The Abbotsford Police Foundation (APF) has announced the addition of three new directors to its board of directors.
Uultsje DeJong and Preetpal Kaur Basanti were elected in November, and Dave Lanphear joined in January. With these appointments, the APF now has a full board of 15 directors.
DeJong has almost 25 years of experience in management, security and bylaw enforcement.
Basanti is a youth justice practice consultant with more than a decade of experience in criminology, social work and youth advocacy. She has a master's in criminal justice.
Lanphear has a 25-year background in financial services and a bachelor degree in criminal justice. He has also served on multiple boards and coached youth sports.
Also on the APF board are: president Sandy Blue, vice-president Marcus Akhtar, treasurer Kinder Sidhu, secretary Navi Sidhu, fundraising committee chair Britt Rigues, events and volunteers committee chair Alli Blouin and governance committee chair Brian Vickers.
Directors are Erwin Braun, AbbyPD union president Staff Sgt. Pat Dyck, Jasmit Singh Phulka, Archana Singh and Police Chief Colin Watson.
Established in 2005, the APF supports initiatives of the Abbotsford Police Department that are not covered by their operating budget.
The APF relies solely on donations from individuals and businesses to sustain its work.
In 2024, the APF hosted the annual fundraiser Crime is Toast – Breakfast with the Chief in October and supported the AbbyPD Movie Night in the Park during the summer.
In December, the AbbyPD City Basketball Tournament and the Trees of Hope at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre were also part of the foundation’s community-focused initiatives.
