The recent edict by the province of B.C. to curtail indoor dining until April 19 is another devastating blow to the restaurant industry here in Abbotsford.

And while local businesses and, indeed, residents, are doing all they can to help “bend the curve,” this latest moratorium on the restaurant industry is a particularly cruel twist of fate in the COVID-19 pandemic war.

But we can help. It’s simple. Order takeout and delivery.

Abbotsford has always enjoyed a plethora of choices when it comes to dining. In order for many dining establishments to stay open, we need to step up and pick up the phone. Ordering takeout and delivery just might be enough to keep the doors open for those restaurants hit hardest by the pandemic.

The B.C. Restaurant and Foodservices Association estimates the province’s restaurant industry generates more than $13 billion in economic activity annually and employs more than 180,000 people. And everyone knows someone who either works or owns a restaurant locally. They need our help now.

We’re asking everyone to check out the takeout and delivery menus in the following pages of our Let’s Eat special section. There’s never been a more urgent time to help support local restaurants and the people they employ.
