Terry Fox Elementary receives literacy grant

Abbotsford school one of 25 across the country to benefit from program

Terry Fox Elementary

Terry Fox Elementary in Abbotsford is among 25 schools across Canada that have been selected to receive a literacy grant from the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation.

A total of $1.5 million in grants has been awarded to help school libraries purchase much-needed books to replenish their shelves.

The foundation says that, with these grants, 8,200 students from across the country will now have the funds to purchase more than 200,000 books over the next three years.

Grant applications are reviewed over six months of judging, and recipients are chosen based on their school’s commitment to literacy programs, as well as other factors such as socioeconomic status and future plans for the grant.
