The City of Abbotsford is launching a new program that will provide one-to-one support for children who are in need of an aide to be safe and successful at summer camps.

The new program, called Summer Camp Support, provides free support staff for children in need at two day-camp programs run by the city.

The camps are the ARC Neighbourhood Camp at Abbotsford Recreation Centre and the Summer in the Park Camp at Mill Lake Park, Ellwood Park and Gardner Park.

Both camps run Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – rain or shine – from July through September and include activities such as outdoor games, crafts and nature walk. As well, adapted sports are offered at the Summer in the Park Camp.

To request support or for more information, contact the summer camp programmer by email at camp@abbotsford.ca by June 30 with your requested summer camp dates.

Although there is no cost for the one-to-one support worker, camp registration fees still apply. As always, external supports for participating children are welcome.

Registration is now open for all of the 2023 summer camps provided by the city. For a complete schedule, visit direct2rec.com.
