The Abbotsford Youth Commission (AYC) is currently seeking youth council representatives for the September 2014 to June 2015 season.
Each year AYC requests one male and one female student representative from each high school in Abbotsford.
Youth selected will be in Grades 10 to 12 and have exceptional leadership qualities. Members attend a weekend retreat to discuss their focus for the year and meet twice a month to discuss issues that youth are facing, learn leadership skills, and give input into youth programs and services.
This past year the council spent most of their year participating in a city council shadow project. The members were matched with a councillor partner and over the course of the school year, were given the opportunity to attend an event with their councillor and sit with their partner at a council meeting.
