The official handbook of female self-esteem movement the Sparkle Project BC, written by Abbotsford residents Kristal Barrett-Stuart and Kristin van Vloten, was released on March 3.

Sparkle: An Inspirational Handbook for Young Girls is a self-help book geared toward adolescent and pre-adolescent females that address issues like goal-setting and positive body image.

The publication, co-authored by country singer Barrett-Stuart and van Vloten, features true stories and success strategies from contributors such as broadcasters Tamara Taggart and Erin Cebula, and television personalities Fiona Forbes and Jillian Harris.

Barrett-Stuart launched the Sparkle Project BC in 2014 with the goal of producing self-help resources and bursaries focused on a younger female demographic. Partial proceeds from the sale of the Sparkle Project BC handbook will fund bursaries for young B.C. women who need financial assistance to develop their talents and pursue their interests.

The book is available on Amazon, and there will be a book signing at the Abbotsford Staples location (110-32500 South Fraser Way) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7.
