Soroptimists in Abbotsford-Mission hold conference

Session takes place Friday, Feb. 19 and is open to high-school-aged girls

Soroptimist International of Abbotsford-Mission hosts a conference on Friday, Feb. 19.

The event, being held on a school district professional development day, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the VanCity community room in Mission.

The conference, titled Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls, is open to high school-aged girls, who will learn about career opportunities, setting and achieving goals, and overcoming obstacles to success.

Topics covered at the event include: discovering your dreams, exploring careers, rising above obstacles, turning failure into success, and balancing your stress.

Participants will also have the opportunity to speak with working women and perhaps arrange a mentorship with a woman whose career interests them.

Soroptimist International is a global volunteer organization that works to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

For more information about the conference or to register, email siabbotsford.mission@soroptimist.net. Seats are limited, and registration is required by Feb. 15.
