The MSA Pioneer Association celebrates 75 years honouring the city’s pioneers with its annual dinner on Friday, May 3 at The Rancho (35190 DeLair Rd.), starting at 7 p.m. All descendants of Matsqui, Sumas and Abbotsford pioneers are invited. The Abbotsford Social Activity Association hosts dances every Friday from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at its hall, 33889 Essendene Ave. Cost is $6 for members and $7 for non-members. AT THE LEGION
The ladies auxiliary to the Abbotsford branch of the Royal Canadian Legion (2513 West Railway St.) holds a fish and chips night on Friday, May 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. A shuttle service to and from the legion, courtesy of MSA Ford, is available by calling 604-746-9151. On Saturday, May 4, the legion serves burgers, beverages and ribbon fries from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., along with music by Wayne Bransfield. Texas Hold’em starts at 7 p.m.

HIKE FOR HOSPICE
The Mission Hospice Society holds the Hike for Hospice on Sunday, May 5 at Fraser River Heritage Park. All funds raised at the 4 km fun hike stay in Mission. Check-in starts at 9 a.m., and the hike begins at 10 a.m. Pledge sheets and registration are available online at missionhospice.bc.ca
Registration takes place Monday, May 6 from 11 a.m. to noon for the next set of computer classes offered at the Abbotsford Social Activity Association (2631 Cyril St.). Classes begin the following day and run for three weeks. Beginners meet at noon, and intermediates at 2 p.m. Cost is $60.
