The following is a list of just some of the activities taking place in Abbotsford over the next week

FAMILY FUN FAIR

McMillan Elementary (34830 Oakhill Drive) holds a Family Fun Fair on Friday, May 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. The event includes facepainting, pony rides, a climbing wall, a bouncy castle, games, a silent auction, a concession and more. All-play wristbands are $5 for children under five years old and $10 for kids five and older.

CLOTHING GIVE-AWAY

A Clothes2U free clothing give-away takes place Saturday, May 28 from noon to 12:30 p.m. at Immanuel Church, 2950 Blue Jay St. Clothes, toys, linens, diapers, footwear, books, and personal and household items are given away free to those in need. There is a $1 admission fee to defray costs. Children 12 and under are free.

MOVE FASHION SHOW

The third annual Red Carpet Move Fashion Show, hosted by Chantel Funk Design Inc., takes place Saturday, May 28 at the Sports Legacy Centre, 3270 Trethewey St., starting at 7 p.m. The fashion show begins at 7:45 p.m. and is followed by an after party. All proceeds are donated to the Women’s Resource Society of the Fraser Valley. Tickets are $25 general and $40 VIP. CAREGIVERS SUPPORT

The Side by Side Caregiver and Family Support Group meets Saturday, May 28 from 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mt. Lehman United Church, 6256 Mt. Lehman Rd. The guest presenter will be a registered dietitian. A light lunch is served at noon. Info: sidebysidecare.org or 778-982-0489

FOLK AND GOSPEL

A concert featuring Saskia and Darrel Spring is held Saturday, May 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Gladwin Heights Church, 3474 Gladwin Rd. The duo performs music with Celtic, bluegrass, folk and gospel flavours. Tickets are $15 and are available at the church office or by calling 604-852-3984.

MEET THE AUTHORS

A free Meet Our Authors event takes place Saturday, May 28 from noon to 4:30 p.m at 2518 West Railway St. Writers, illustrators and filmmakers will be on hand to talk about the writing process and share readings. VIOLINIST IN CONCERT

Violinist Jaime Jorge performs in concert on Saturday, May 28 at 7 p.m. at the Abbotsford Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1921 Griffiths Rd. Admission is free. Info: 778-552-3362

HOLY QUR’AN EXHIBIT

GERMAN SING-ALONG

MONSTER GARAGE SALE

The Mission Horse Club holds a monster garage sale on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2136 Sherwood Cres. The event includes professional face painting by donation (Saturday only) and a concession with treats.

HOMINUM MEETS

BIKE TO WORK

Bike to work with Abbotsford Mayor Henry Braun and councillors on Tuesday, May 31. There will be two rides, both starting at 7 a.m. and finishing at the Celebration Station at Canadian Tire on South Fraser Way. HACKING PARENTHOOD

“Hacking Parenthood: The Three Worlds of Digital Parenting” is the topic of a lecture on Thursday, June 2 from 7 to 8:30 p.m at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium, 32315 South Fraser Way. VALLEY FESTIVAL SINGERS

Valley Festival Singers is a group of adult singers of all ages whose common thread is their love of singing excellent choral music.
